Plot Structure:
In 'Petey', there is no definite climax, and rising or falling action. The story is a telling of his life, so that is why it is not structured like a normal fiction novel. The ending might be the climax but otherwise it is unclear.
PLOT

Petey was born in Bozeman and his parents deemed him an 'idiot'. Two years later, sent him to a mental institution.
Petey befriends some mice and his soon to be long time buddy, Calvin, arrives at the hospital.
Joe, a new attendant, introduces Christmas and movies to Petey. Petey becomes very ill with the flu and pneumonia for a few months.
Petey is finally, at the age of 8, transfered from the infant's ward to the men's ward. He is rolled across the courtyard and this is the first experience he has ever had outside.
Esteban, a young mexican man, works at the infants ward. He feeds Petey chocolate and is the first to realize that he is not a idiot.

At the age of 73, Owen has to go but he promises to visit them. Calvin closes himself off to life.
Cassie, a friend of his, came and went. Owen then comes after retiring and gives Petey a purpose again.
Calvin had been transferred away. Petey is put back in the Bozeman Nursing Home and he take his first car ride.
Trevor, living in Bozeman, gets to know Petey. They spend a lot of time together exploring the world. Petey gets a new wheelchair. Then, the ending! Read the book to find it out! (a tear-jerker)
